RTI SEALANT SPECIALISTS
BUILT FOR PERFORMANCE. BUILT FOR ACCOUNTABILITY.
RTI Sealant Specialists, Inc. is a commercial specialty subcontractor delivering joint sealant, waterproofing, expansion joint, firestopping, and protective coating systems on complex, schedule-sensitive projects.
With over 65 years of combined RTI experience and continuous operations dating back to the 1960s, RTI is a women-led, family-operated business built on long-term accountability, workforce stability, and relationship-driven execution.
RTI is trusted on projects where envelope failure is not an option and where clean close-out and first-time compliance matter.
HOW RTI APPROACHES PROJECTS
RTI partners with general contractors to reduce envelope-related risk before it becomes rework, delay, or post-handover defects.
This approach is built around:
- Early coordination and system understanding
- Clear scope definition and accountability
- Disciplined execution in high-exposure conditions
RTI’s role is not limited to installation, it is to support project teams in delivering predictable performance and smooth close-out on envelope-critical scopes.
WHAT SETS RTI APART
Reduced Envelope Risk
RTI installs systems designed to prevent leaks, failures, and long-term defects before they become claims or warranty issues.
Schedule Protection
RTI regularly executes late-stage and close-out scopes without disrupting inspections, occupancy, or turnover milestones.
First-Time Compliance
Firestopping and waterproofing scopes are installed to meet specifications and code requirements, supporting first-time inspection approval.
Clear Scopes, Fewer RFIs
RTI emphasizes defined inclusions and exclusions, minimizing gray areas, coordination issues, and downstream disputes.
EARLY-STAGE SYSTEM REVIEW & RISK IDENTIFICATION
RTI provides early-stage input by reviewing sealant, waterproofing, and expansion joint systems to identify constructability and exposure risks, particularly in high-risk areas such as:
- Below-grade conditions
- Elevator pits
- Movement and transition joints
Early review supports better sequencing, clearer scopes, and reduced downstream issues during construction.
WORKFORCE STABILITY & ACCOUNTABILITY
RTI’s workforce stability supports consistent execution and accountability across projects. This continuity allows RTI to deliver reliable results, maintain installation quality, and support repeat general contractor relationships over time.
RTI’s relationship-driven approach emphasizes long-term accountability, consistent field execution, and clean, predictable close-outs.
OUR HISTORY
RTI Sealant Specialists, Inc. (originally established as Ron Taraba Inc.) traces its foundation back to Vernon J. Taraba, Jr., whose contributions to expansion joint systems helped shape early approaches to movement and sealing in building assemblies.
In 1988, Vern was granted U.S. Patent No. 4736558 for a building expansion and separation joint system. The patented design introduced a polyurethane-based joint with grooved profiles and elastomeric membranes to improve movement accommodation and durability.
This early focus on solving real-world construction challenges related to movement, sealing, and long-term performance continues to influence RTI’s work today.
CONTINUITY & LEADERSHIP
RTI’s work continued under Ron Taraba, carrying forward the company’s focus on envelope-critical systems and long-term accountability.
Leadership later transitioned to Sherry Taraba, continuing the company’s direction as a women-led, family-operated business built on consistency and relationship-driven execution.
Today, RTI’s operations and project coordination are supported by:
- Lise Dollar – Operations and Preconstruction Coordination
- John Greevers – Field Operations
- Fernando Reyes – Field Superintendent
This structure supports alignment between preconstruction, field execution, and project delivery across schedule-sensitive work.
OUR TEAM
RTI’s work is supported by a team experienced in envelope-critical systems, field execution, and coordination across complex construction environments.
